Nodejitsu joins forces with Telefónica to target the European developer community

New York and London - February 12th 2013 - Nodejitsu, provider of the state of the art node.js-based Platform-as-a-Service, and Telefónica Digital, the digital innovation unit of telecom giant Telefónica, have announced a partnership to deliver Nodejitsu’s hosting to the European market using Telefónica’s data centers. By running on Telefónica’s Instant Servers, Nodejitsu can offer its customers a choice of multiple infrastructure providers and more data centers across a variety of regions.

The new capabilities of Nodejitsu’s platform are being rolled out alongside the launch of their new Business Plans, which deliver mission critical hosting for developers and small & medium-sized businesses. Under the partnership, Nodejitsu leverages Telefonica’s cloud infrastructure to offer their customers greater trust, reliability and flexibility. The launch also marks the beginning of true support for Europe on Nodejitsu.

Launched last November, Telefónica’s Instant Servers IaaS offering delivers on-demand, high performance cloud computing and is optimised for mobile, enterprise and M2M applications. The service is backed by Telefónica’s world-class infrastructure management and service capabilities and is supported by a market-leading monthly SLA of 99.996%, guaranteed by financial compensation in the event of non-compliance.

“Nodejitsu plays a key role in the Node.js community and we are very pleased to be supporting their expansion into Europe,” said Tim Marsden, Director of Cloud Services at Telefónica Digital. “This partnership combines their Node.js expertise with our high quality and reliable infrastructure to deliver a compelling proposition for businesses in Europe.”

“Telefonica has been the longstanding leader in European telecom, and an innovator with their introduction of Instant Servers,” said Charlie Robbins, CEO at Nodejitsu. “Under our partnership, we’re taking Nodejitsu’s service to a new level with unparalleled reliability and selection with our new Business Plans and full expansion into the European market.”

In recent years the Platform-as-a-Service market, which enables developers to get products to market faster, has exploded in popularity, with a projected $9.8 billion market reach by 2016.

The Nodejitsu team leverages the fast growing node.js technology, an extremely lean and scalable application framework for server-side Javascript. Node.js allows greater application performance, requiring fewer virtual servers, translating to savings on infrastructure costs.
